Tamara Albury (Fort Worth Independent School District), Janice Jackson (Chicago Public Schools), and Anne Wicks (George W. Bush Institute) discuss Conditions for Change - What Educators, Partners, and Vendors Need to Know at the 2021 ASU+GSV Summit.For decades, educators, policymakers, funders, and others have worked to improve education by implementing new policies and practices designed to better serve students. And, for decades, the desired improvement has been elusive, more anecdotal than systemic. Our research on Principal Talent Management, conducted over several years with four district partners, helped to identify specific conditions for change that accelerate meaningful progress. This panel will dive into which of the conditions are most meaningful in their context, why our focus on implementation made this project different than other initiatives, and what advice they have for those who support schools and districts (from vendors to funders to policymakers) about using the conditions for new projects.
