The world’s largest investor, Blackrock CEO Larry Fink, wrote in his 2020 letter to CEOs that “purpose is the engine of long-term profitability. . . . The importance of serving stakeholders and embracing purpose is becoming increasingly central to the way that companies understand their role in society.” Is this true? Can corporate leaders embrace a social purpose in ways that actually deliver better economic performance? This panel of Education leaders believes that purpose + profit is better than either path on its own -- they believe it is competitive and compelling to incorporate social purpose as a source of opportunity, productivity, differentiation, meaning -- and success.
