
Dr. Kwame R. Morton is the Superintendent of Cherry Hill Public Schools in Cherry Hill NJ. He formerly served as an Assistant Superintendent PreK-12/C&I in Cherry Hill Public Schools. He was the 2021 NJ Visionary Principal of the Year/NASSP NJ State Principal of the Year for his work as principal of Cherry Hill High School West. As a systems thinker, he utilizes a comprehensive approach to school improvement focused on providing students with access, opportunity, rigor and supports while promoting a dynamic 21st Century teaching environment resident with innovative learning strategies. He has held a variety of administrative roles and positions. Prior to serving as the principal of Cherry Hill High School West he served as the principal of Joyce Kilmer Elementary School (Cherry Hill, NJ). He obtained a National Turnaround Specialist Credential while serving as the principal of Frederick Douglass Elementary School (Philadelphia, Pa). He also served as an assistant principal at Thomas Fitzsimmons High School while in the School District of Philadelphia. Dr. Morton began his career in the New York City Department of Education where he spent approximately 10 years serving as a teacher and school administrator. Dr. Morton earned a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from NorthCentral University. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from The College of Saint Rose, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Clarion University of PA. While at Clarion University, Dr. Morton participated as a standout member of the men’s basketball team. He was named the Basketball Times 1994 NCAA Division II Player of the Year and he still holds several school records. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi social fraternity. He and his wife April are the proud parents of 10 children and two grandchildren.
