
Jennifer (Jen) Lefebvre is a Canadian educational leader and instructional technology specialist. She currently serves as the Director of Instruction for the Wild Rose School Division in Alberta. In her current executive role, she oversees instructional programming, education technology, school library - learning commons, curriculum implementation, assessment, and classroom design.Jen has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels throughout Alberta, worked for the Government of Alberta in technology leadership and taught for two years in Scotland in the public school system. She is passionate about teaching middle school, music, and computer science.Early in her career, Jen served as a Project Coordinator for IT for Dominica, where she spent three years facilitating summer institutes for teachers in the Caribbean on integrating internet and Web 2.0 tools into classrooms. Jen’s education includes a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta in Elementary Special Education, a Masters of Education in Education Technology from the University of Lethbridge, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Assistive Technology from the University of Calgary.Her innovative approach to teaching has earned her several prestigious awards:Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award (2011): For her innovative use of technology in the classroom.Selected for the Prime Minister’s Teaching Award (2011), which she formally declined due to her move to the UKMicrosoft Innovative Educator Award (2009): Presented in Salvador, Brazil, for her contributions to global education technology.HP Technology for Teaching Award (2005): Awarded at the ISTE conference in San Diego. Jen is the mom of Hudson, a lego, dinosaur and number loving Kindergarten student and wife of Jaymon, her biggest supporter, catalyst and collaborator in supporting the use of technology in the classroom. She loves to explore the world, especially the Rocky Mountains, by bicycle while listening to a constant stream of audiobooks.
