Originally from Detroit (MI), Kevin McPartlin moved to Nevada to begin a career as a math teacher in 1997. He has continued to serve the Las Vegas community and the Clark County School District for the past 29 years. McPartlin currently serves as an Associate Superintendent where he oversees the Education Services Division, Alternative Services Division, and Secondary Athletics and Activities Department. This unique portfolio includes 20,000 students enrolled in both comprehensive schools and alternative educational programs. His team also provides wraparound services, legal support and community referrals services for the 370 schools and 380,000 students within the district. Prior to moving to the central office, McPartlin served as a high school principal for over seventeen years. In 2006, McPartlin became the principal of Chaparral High School, in east Las Vegas. Needing to reverse a decade of negative trends in achievement and climate, McPartlin restructured the school into four autonomous and thematic learning academies to engage students in their learning. In 2011, McPartlin moved to Arbor View High School, in northwest Las Vegas, and turned his focus to promoting an inclusive, equity-based environment for all students by implementing an advisory program, restorative practices, and removing obstacles to accessing higher level coursework.Throughout his career, McPartlin has established a reputation as an effective communicator and collaborator by successfully bringing together coalitions of individuals that are diverse in thoughts and ideals, and uniting them for the benefit of children.
