Dr. Nikki Golar Mouton is a skilled educator with 20+ years of experience in the field in various contexts (medium-large school districts and the non-profit sector). Mouton currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent of Academic Services in Gwinnett County Public Schools, Georgia. Prior to returning to Georgia, Mouton served as Executive Director of Continuous Improvement for the Frisco Independent School District (Texas). Her experience also includes the Deputy Chief Academic Officer position for Dallas Independent Schools where she had the opportunity to effect change via several program areas - STEM, career and technical education, special education, visual and performing arts, and professional learning. Prior to moving to Dallas, Texas, she spent the bulk of her career (teacher, science director, executive director of staff development/curriculum and instruction) in the nation’s 11th largest school district – Gwinnett County Public Schools, Georgia. Throughout her tenure, Mouton supported the strategic efforts to Transform Teaching and Learning for Student Achievement undergirded by the district’s commitment to (a) continuous quality improvement, (b) leader and teacher development, (c) civic engagement, and (d) innovative practices.
Mouton earned a B.S in natural science with a concentration in chemistry from Spelman College (Atlanta, GA).
She also holds a M.Ed. in secondary science education and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Mercer University (Atlanta, GA). Dr. Mouton is married to her college sweetheart, Terry, and has two children, Miles and Sydney.
