Eric Boynton serves as the 12th President of Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. Since assuming the presidency in 2023, he has worked in close partnership with the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and regional partners to position Beloit as an agile, innovative, and student-centered liberal arts college prepared to thrive in a rapidly changing higher-education landscape.Under President Boynton’s leadership, Beloit has entered a period of accelerated transformation—building on nearly two centuries of tradition while responding directly to contemporary student, workforce, and societal needs. Central to this work is Impact Beloit, a strategic framework that reimagines how a residential liberal arts education can deliver exceptional value in the 21st century. Impact Beloit emphasizes integrated, experiential, and career-connected learning; deeper engagement with the city and region; and disciplined alignment of mission, academic innovation, and financial sustainability.Key initiatives during President Boynton’s tenure include the creation of five career-connected academic schools, the rapid development of market-relevant majors—particularly in the health professions—and expanded experimentation with skills-based credentialing. Beloit has also formed significant partnerships with regional public and private institutions to extend access to online coursework, graduate pathways, and new academic delivery models. Additional collaborations include nursing programs with Edgewood University and Beloit Health System and degree-completion pathways with Blackhawk Technical College.At the same time, Beloit has reinvigorated student life and the residential experience—strengthening co-curricular programming, student leadership, and campus vitality—while advancing its role as an anchor institution in downtown Beloit.President Boynton previously served four years as Provost and Dean of Beloit College, where he led major curricular reform, faculty development, and strategic planning efforts that laid the foundation for the College’s current trajectory. Before joining Beloit, he was a tenured professor at Allegheny College, where he won numerous teaching awards and held multiple leadership roles, including Chair and Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Director of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Director of the Honors Program.
