
As the Vice Chancellor of the Workforce and Economic Development Division (WEDD), Anthony Cordova, MBA, leads the development, implementation, and management of policies advancing the economic and social mobility for Californians served by community colleges. He is responsible for oversight and management of $1.4 billion in systemwide funding for programs and initiatives that directly support Chancellor Christian’s Vision 2030—Equity in Success, Equity in Access, and Equity in Support. VC Cordova began his higher education career as an adjunct instructor in the Industrial & Occupational Safety program at Taft College. Prior to becoming Vice Chancellor of Workforce and Economic Development, he served as Dean of Instruction at Bakersfield College, driving success in Career Education and Workforce Development. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board for Valley Achievement Center (a nonprofit organization supporting individuals with autism), is a member of Kern County Citizen Energy, and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, as President-Elect of the California Community College Association for Occupational Education, as Chair of the California Community College bachelor’s degree steering committee programs, and as a member of the Kern County Public Waste Hearing Committee. Anthony, a Gulf War veteran, served in the United States Navy as a Boiler Technician. In addition to his military service, Mr. Cordova has worked in the private sector within the engineering and manufacturing industry. Today, Anthony, his wife of 25 years, and their six dogs reside in Bakersfield, California, and enjoy spending time away from work walking, practicing hot yoga, golfing, and chasing the dogs.
