ECMC Foundation

Archie Cubarrubia, Ed.D., serves as vice president of grants at ECMC Foundation, where he oversees the strategic direction, management, and execution of the Foundation’s grantmaking programs.

Prior to joining ECMC Foundation, Archie was deputy director for the postsecondary success and pathways teams at the Gates Foundation, overseeing work focused on how colleges and universities transform to advance student success and on developing public goods that accelerate that transformation. Earlier, he served as vice provost for institutional effectiveness at Miami Dade College, leading strategic planning, institutional research, policy analysis, assessment, evaluation, and quality assurance.

Archie also served at the U.S. Department of Education during the Bush and Obama administrations, where he led high‑priority efforts related to postsecondary access, affordability, and accountability. His roles included overseeing the National Postsecondary Education Cooperative, directing research and development for the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), serving as designated federal official for the advisory committee on Measures of Student Success, and acting as principal analyst for the Commission on the Future of Higher Education.

Archie holds a Doctor of Education from The George Washington University, a Master of Education from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science in health studies.
