Ken Dirkin serves as the Senior Director of the Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute (MVLRI), where he drives forward-thinking educational strategies within Michigan. At MVLRI, he and his team are tasked to support and accelerate innovation in K-12 learning in Michigan. Ken leads a skilled group of instructional designers, technologists, and researchers who collectively assess and introduce next-generation teaching tools, aiming to enrich K-12 education with schools throughout the state. Over the last five years, MVLRI has concentrated on integrating artificial intelligence, establishing digital badges and credentials, and enhancing students' learning experiences beyond traditional classroom settings. Before joining Michigan Virtual, Ken contributed to the advancement of educational technology and innovation at Michigan State University’s College of Education, working on research and innovation projects as a technology director.
