Kevin Johnson currently serves as CEO of Fixins Restaurant Group. Founded in 2019 in his hometown of Sacramento, Fixins Soul Kitchen seeks to set the standard for the American soul food experience by offering authentic Southern cuisine and impeccable service in a hip, energetic atmosphere. Fixins has additional locations in downtown Los Angeles, in Tulsa on Black Wall Street, and in downtown Detroit, with growth plans to include cities throughout the U.S. Additionally, Johnson is the general partner of Black Capital, an early-stage venture fund focused on investing in Black founders with investments in Partake Foods, Overtime Elite, and others. In addition to his professional endeavors, Johnson has founded and led several major charitable initiatives focused on education, culture, and economic development, including 40 Acres Cultural Center, a restored retail and housing project that helped anchor the revitalization of Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood and is home to several Black-owned businesses, including Underground Books, operated by his mother, the late Georgia “Mother Rose” Peat West. He also founded the African American Mayors Association, the National Black Brewers Association, and most recently, the National Association of Black Bookstores.
