Mi-Ai Parrish leads ASU’s Media Enterprise and is the Professor for Media Innovation and Leadership at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. She is also president and CEO of MAP Strategies Group and holds a B.S. in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.Previously, Parrish served as president and publisher of The Arizona Republic/AZCentral.com and market president at USA Today Network, where her team won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for The Wall, a multimedia investigation of the U.S.-Mexico border. She also held leadership roles at The Kansas City Star, Idaho Statesman, and newsroom positions at the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and San Francisco Chronicle. As the first Korean-American publisher in mainstream media and the first BIPOC publisher in multiple cities, she continues to champion diversity, equity, and media integrity.Parrish chairs the Poynter Institute Board and serves as vice-chair of the Banner Foundation and secretary of Greater Phoenix Leadership. She also sits on the boards of the Associated Press, Common Sense Media, The 19th* News, and the Arizona Community Foundation. A four-time Pulitzer Prize juror, she remains a leading voice on media ethics, justice, and the weaponization of information.
