Dr. Patricia Alvarez McHatton is the Chief Program Officer of the Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity (BranchED). In this role, Dr. Alvarez McHatton oversees all faculty and leader facing programming, including capacity building and professional learning initiatives. Working alongside the President and CEO, Dr. Alvarez McHatton helps to establish key organizational objectives, secure and ensure the best use of the organizational resources, and support development of high-quality educator preparation programs. As an integral member of the senior management team, she cultivates and manages relationships with educator preparation programs and helps to position the organization to meet their needs.  Prior to this role, Dr. Alvarez McHatton served as the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Student Success, and P-16 Integration at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and was Founding Dean of the College of Education and P-16 Integration where she led multiple initiatives to enhance educator preparation programs within the college, expand the educator pipeline, and cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with districts and community members.  Throughout her career, Dr. Alvarez McHatton has excelled in various roles, including as a professor, doctoral program coordinator, grant evaluator, and middle school teacher. She was part of the Select Committee of HSI-Serving Deans and Educators convened by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics to explore developing quality teacher preparation programs that serve the needs of Hispanic students and most recently co-edited a volume exploring what it means to be a Hispanic serving college of education.
