Dr. Remy L. Washington serves as the CEO of Uplift Education, a leading public charter school network serving over 23,000 scholars across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In her role, she leads the network’s Academic Team, Family and Scholar Engagement Team, and Road to College and Career Team, driving a unified vision that prepares scholars not only to thrive in college but to build meaningful, high-impact careers. A lifelong educator with more than two decades of experience, Dr. Washington began her career as a classroom teacher and administrator in Chicago Public Schools. Since joining Uplift in Texas, she has served as a principal, Managing Director of Schools, Chief Academic Officer, President and now CEO. Over her 12 years at Uplift, she has led key strategic initiatives that have improved outcomes in early literacy, secondary math acceleration, college readiness, and IB Diploma Program success. She oversees Uplift’s nationally recognized Road to College and Career Team, which supports scholars in preparing for and accessing college, while also ensuring they persist and graduate at rates that are three times the national average for the demographics Uplift serves. The majority of Uplift scholars identify as Latinx and are the first in their families to attend college. Uplift also supports alumni in securing high-paying and purpose-driven first jobs. On average, Uplift alumni earn $20,000 more annually than their peers who graduate from Dallas County high schools. Uplift is on the cusp of becoming the largest public-school system in the country to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme to all scholars. This globally benchmarked curriculum equips every scholar with the skills, confidence, and perspective to lead in college, career, and life. Dr. Washington holds a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Urban Leadership from Johns Hopkins University and is a proud alumna of the Pahara and Greenhouse E3 Fellowships. She is widely respected for her ability to lead effective change, foster collaboration, and champion a bold vision grounded in scholar outcomes and human connection. Known affectionately across the network as “DJ Remyx,” she brings energy, joy, and authenticity to her leadership. Her unwavering belief in the power of public education to transform lives continues to inspire the Uplift community. She remains committed to proving what is possible for scholars, families, and the broader communities they represent.
