Richard Coffin is Chief of Research and Advocacy at USAFacts, Steve Ballmer’s non-partisan civic initiative making government data more accessible and usable. As the organization’s first employee in 2015, he guided its early research, launch, and product vision. He now leads research efforts, publications, and government outreach, working to improve data accessibility and decision-making at all levels of government.Previously, Richard served as Chief Product Officer, overseeing product strategy, data acquisition, content production, and platform development. Before joining USAFacts, he was a Fulbright Scholar in Chile, researching voting patterns under new registration laws. He also worked as a corporate strategy analyst at Microsoft and as a polling analyst for Penn, Schoen & Berland and Burson-Marsteller.Richard holds an AB in government with a secondary in neurobiology from Harvard University. A Denver native, he currently resides in Seattle.
