Sandra Moumoutjis is an accomplished educator with a diverse background spanning over thirty years in education. With expertise in personalized and competency-based learning models, Sandra has led transformative change at the classroom, school, and system levels. In her current role as Executive Director of the Learning Innovation Network at Building 21, Sandra oversees a national network of over fifty schools, guiding them in the development of student-centered competency-based learning models. Previously, as Chief Instructional Designer at Building 21, she spearheaded the design and implementation of the Building 21 competency framework and instructional model. This open-source competency framework has been utilized throughout the country and around the world.Sandra is a co-designer of Beacon Learning, which is the technology infrastructure developed by Building 21 to support any school that is on a transformation journey to a more personalized and competency-based learning model. Beacon Learning includes a student-centered competency tracking platform, Personalized Learning Plans, and a set of Generative AI-enabled apps for teachers and students.Sandra has also served as a literacy coach, reading specialist, classroom teacher, and educational consultant, consistently delivering high-quality professional development and driving positive outcomes for students.
