Dr. Stacey Ludwig Johnson currently serves as Senior Vice President of Western Governors University and Executive Dean of the School of Education, where she leads the academic and operational strategy for the largest nonprofit, accredited school of education in the nation. WGU’s School of Education, home to the Teachers College and the College of General Education, provides next-generation programs for educators across the K-12 and Higher Education sectors, as well as general education pathways for students throughout WGU.
Stacey has a long history championing and supporting the work of WGU, and changing trajectories for students – with the belief that education is the key to change. As a pioneer in competency-based education, Stacey has invested more than 24 years envisioning, creating, and implementing academic services, including faculty and clinical experience models, that optimize student progress and retention, attainment, and career success. She joined WGU in 1998 as Manager of Student Services and Registrar, and later served in a variety of leadership roles at the university, including Financial Aid Administrator, Director of Academic Services, Associate Academic Vice President, and Associate Provost of Academic Services. Immediately prior to her appointment as acting SVP and Executive Dean, Stacey served as Vice President of Academic Operations for WGU’s School of Education, where she led faculty operations, field experience, and innovation for the school.
