Val Brown is the Chief Education and Partnership Officer at the Levine Museum of the New South, where she passionately leads a team in creating and implementing meaningful educational initiatives, public programs, and community engagement efforts. With 20 years of rich experience in teaching, central office administration, higher education, and non-profit work, Val is dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of young people and advancing professional learning, instructional practices, and educational and racial justice. Recognized nationally for her expertise and warm approach, Val shares her insights at conferences across the country, drawing on her extensive background, including an Ed.D. in professional learning for educators. In 2024, Val was honored to join the Carnegie Foundation's National Faculty, where she focuses on nurturing teacher leadership. She co-authored a framework for antiracist education in 2020, emphasizing the crucial qualities of antiracist educators. Val also founded #ClearTheAir in 2016, an international community of educators committed to dialogue and learning. She co-hosts the Integrated Schools podcast, which delves into authentic stories about integrated schools and justice. As a columnist for The Learning Professional, Val offers thoughtful perspectives on professional learning. Outside of work, Val loves walking, discovering independent bookstores, enjoying Broadway musicals, and fostering connections across diverse communities
