Forty percent of students may not show up on campus this all, and even before the pandemic the higher education system was facing major challenges: declining enrollment, increasing competition, and escalating costs. Is a shakeout inevitable? How does higher education actually grow its market and seize the biggest opportunity out there: working learners? This is not the only key to the future of postsecondary education but also to the future of social mobility in the U.S. This session will grapple with:
• What working learners need and want
• The available jobs that provide both short-term employment and future opportunities
• How should higher education reposition itself for the class of 2022 and beyond?
