Creativity and critical thinking are at the heart of innovation, which has become key to the growth and wellbeing of OECD economies and societies. But a challenges remains for teachers: how to deliver these critical skills to their students. Stéphan will present ongoing work he leads at the OECD Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) on supporting teachers to develop and assess their students' creativity and critical thinking. The OECD has worked in 11 countries to develop a community of practice and set of pedagogical resources to support the changes required in teaching and learning, laying the foundation for a standardized assessment of creative thinking to be developed for the PISA test's innovative domain in 2021.
