Chrishonda Smith serves as the Chief People and Culture Officer at Edmentum, a leading global provider of K-12 learning acceleration solutions. In this role, she leads the global human capital organization including People Partnerships, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience, Talent Management and Inclusion and Belonging. She is also the executive leader of the organization’s non-profit arm, We Can Learn, which  drives impact in education through philanthropic giving and service. With over 20 years of experience in Human Resources Strategy, Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, Organizational Effectiveness and Impact, Smith consistently delivers solutions to drive individual and organizational leadership efficacy.  

Smith has collaborated with organizations across the healthcare, retail, financial services, technology, higher education, and non-profit industries. Prior to Edmentum, Chrishonda served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Mount Carmel Health System with responsibility for people and culture across the 10000-employee integrated health system. Her results-driven approach has made her a sought-after coach, consultant, facilitator, and speaker.  

Smith has been honored with the Detroit Area YWCA Professional Woman of  Achievement Award, induction into Who’s Who in Black Detroit and Who's Who in Black  Columbus, recognized by Seramount as a “Mentor Maven” and an HR Impact Award recipient by Columbus Business First.  

Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University, a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from Davenport University, Advanced  Strategic Diversity Practitioner Certification from Cornell University, and holds designation  as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.  

A native of Detroit, Michigan Smith and her family reside in the Columbus, Ohio area and she lives by the motto “Pay it forward”.
