Dr. Juana Mendenhall serves as the Vice Provost of Academic Innovation and Learning and holds the distinguished title of Walter E. Massey Professor of Physical Sciences at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Known as a visionary leader, bold innovator, and humble strategist, Dr. Mendenhall is recognized for her results-driven approach to advancing academic excellence and institutional transformation in the emerging technology and innovation space! In her current leadership role, she has championed the development of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure at Morehouse College by leading faculty training initiatives, student literacy, and the up-skilling of staff on AI tools and technology. Further, she's spearheaded the institution’s AI academic policy and guidelines to galvanize student learning and faculty instruction. Under these capacity building efforts, she develops Morehouse College fostering AI and machine learning curriculum aligned to industry standards. Her belief in accessible, cutting-edge pedagogy drives her work in AI Integration into higher educationDr. Mendenhall is also the Director and Principal Investigator of the Smart Biomaterials Lab and the President and Founder of TheraVisc™ LLC, a biomedical company developing injectable gels to treat knee injuries. Her patented technology is among the first to demonstrate using AI and ML to regenerate articular cartilage to mitigate joint disease. Her TEDx talk on the future of knee repair is helping to reshape how we approach treatment for degenerative joint diseases like osteoarthritis.
