Dr. Mia Kim Williams is an educator, researcher, and leader committed to transforming teaching and learning through innovation, human-centered design, and emerging technologies. Her work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), digital and critical pedagogies, human-centered learning, and system-level educational change, with a particular focus on supporting thoughtful and strategic opportunities and challenges of the AI era. At the University of Wyoming, Dr. Williams has supported educators and students in reimagining learning for a rapidly changing world. Her scholarship and practice are grounded in a belief that meaningful innovation must remain deeply connected to human relationships, ethical decision-making and problem-solving, and a justice-oriented mission of education. Across her work, she has explored how emergent technologies such as GenAI can strengthen- not replace - the human dimensions of creativity and learning.Dr. Williams brings a rare combination of academic depth, practical vision, and collaborative energy. She has designed learning experiences, led faculty and program development, supported interdisciplinary innovation, and advanced research focused on teaching, agency, technology integration, and educational transformation. Her work reflects a deep commitment to preparing educators not only to adapt to change, but to lead it. She is especially motivated by opportunities to build future-focused, scalable solutions that expand access, strengthen instructional practice, and help higher education remain relevant, resilient, and mission-driven. Through the Google & GSV Higher Ed Leader Fellowship, Dr. Williams hopes to deepen her strategic fluency with transformative technologies, collaborate with a global network of visionary leaders, and accelerate institutional innovation that creates lasting impact.
