
Gemma Duffy is a Learning Technologist at Manchester Adult Education Service (MAES). Having spent years as an ESOL teacher, Gemma’s approach is rooted in the practical realities of the classroom. She is particularly interested in how technology can be a tool for inclusion, a passion that was highlighted during the pandemic when she developed essential online resources for ESOL learners to keep them connected.In her current role, Gemma focuses on making tools like Google Workspace and AI accessible and useful for busy tutors. She sees herself as a "translator," helping colleagues navigate digital change without feeling overwhelmed. Her goal is simple: to use technology to handle the "heavy lifting" of admin so that teachers can get back to what they do best—supporting their students. Gemma is committed to ensuring that innovation in adult education always remains human-centred and practical.
