
Scott Ralls is the fourth President of Wake Technical Community College and a President Emeritus of the North Carolina Community College System.
Wake Tech is North Carolina’s largest community college and has been ranked a Top 200 community college in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, as well as a Leader College by Achieving the Dream. The institution sponsors one of the most robust apprenticeship programs in the nation, is a leader in the development of simulated workforce education spaces, and is noted for its “laddering” workforce development and economic mobility strategies.
From 2015 to 2019, Scott served as President of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), the second-largest multi-campus community college in the United States. During his tenure, NOVA initiated the nationally recognized ADVANCE joint admissions program with George Mason University, as well as a cloud computing education partnership with Amazon Web Services that catalyzed a statewide Virginia initiative.
Scott served as President of the North Carolina Community College System from 2008 to 2015. During that time, he led the SuccessNC student success strategies, which resulted in:
Scott previously served as President of Craven Community College from 1999 to 2008, and as Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development for the North Carolina Community College System from 1999 to 2002.
He has testified seven times before U.S. Congressional committees on workforce development and student success innovation. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Public Service Award from the North Carolina Chamber and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina’s highest civilian honor.
