David Harris

David serves as the Senior Vice President, Higher Education & Program at GSV Summit.

He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and has built his career at the intersection of higher education, publishing, and ed-tech innovation. At OpenStax, he led the development of more than 80 open educational resources that have collectively saved students over $2.5 billion in textbook costs. Under his leadership, OpenStax expanded its reach — exploring how OER and technology can drive improved access, learning outcomes, and academic integrity.

Before joining OpenStax, David served as President of WebAssign, then the largest independent online homework provider. Over the years, his leadership roles have spanned start-ups and established publishers, collaborating closely with authors, editorial teams, and media developers to reimagine how teaching and learning scale.

At ASU+GSV, David leverages that experience to shape programs and partnerships that push the boundaries of accessible, high-impact innovation in higher education.
