Emily Oster at ASU+GSV Summit

January 29, 2025

Economist, author, and founder Emily Oster will join the 2025 ASU+GSV Summit for a StageX keynote conversation.

Emily Oster is on a mission to empower parents by providing the data and tools they need to make confident decisions. After earning a PhD in Economics from Harvard, Emily went on to pursue research in health economics and is now a Professor of Economics at Brown University.

As a mom of two, she was inspired by her own pregnancy and the lack of clear information to guide her decisions. She decided to use her economics background to review and analyze the data on pregnancy and parenting, and write a book to help other parents navigate these topics. She is now a New York Times best-selling author, whose books include Expecting Better, Cribsheet, The Family Firm, and most recently, The Unexpected. She has sold over 1 million copies thus far.

Emily is also the founder and CEO of ParentData, a data-driven guide to pregnancy, parenting, and beyond. ParentData’s weekly newsletter has hundreds of thousands of subscribers, along with a strong social media community where she unpacks “panic headlines,” provides powerful community insights, and analyzes the data behind parents’ burning questions. She has become a leading voice in analyzing education’s recovery from COVID-19 and was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2022.

Emily’s work serves as a reminder that lifelong learning is not optional — and that curiosity is essential to our growth as parents, learners, and leaders alike. Don’t miss Emily Oster at the 2025 ASU+GSV Summit, April 6-9 in San Diego!
