Gagan Biyani

Serial education entrepreneur and Founder & CEO of The Horowitz Andreessen Academy Gagan Biyani will keynote at ASU+GSV 2027!

Building on a long career reimagining teaching and learning, Gagan Biyani is the guiding force behind a new model of postsecondary learning: The Horowitz Andreessen Academy, an institution backed by $42 million in funding led by a16z. The Academy’s goal is to teach students how to build—a skill that is paramount in the age of AI—and to connect them with a network of entrepreneurial peers and Silicon Valley leaders. The Academy has already secured dozens of inaugural hiring partners, including Google, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Replit, Lovable, Shopify, and Stripe, that will consider graduates for internships or employment.

In 2009, Biyani co-founded skill development giant Udemy. As President during its early years, he supplied critical momentum: raising the company’s first $4 million in funding, recruiting thousands of instructors, and leading the team that generated $2 million in sales in the company’s first 18 months. He later co-founded Maven, a live, cohort-based model of online learning. Over six years as CEO, he scaled it to 100,000+ learners, and companies like Salesforce, Notion, and Walmart have partnered with Maven for AI upskilling. He now serves as its Chairman.

Throughout his career, Gagan Biyani has proven that technology is a crucial lever to scale human connection and democratize opportunity for ALL. We can’t wait to see him live on StageX at the 2027 ASU+GSV Summit—April 4-7 in San Diego!
