In this interactive session, participants will explore practical strategies and tech tools to empower students to take charge of their own learning journeys. Based on takeaways from the recently released Playbook for Self-Directed Learning by Dr Tyler Thigpen, Dr Caleb Collier, Brittney Toles, and Amber Bryant (founders of The Forest School: An Acton Academy and Institute for Self Directed Learning), educators and leaders will learn ways to create environments that foster autonomy, intrinsic motivation, and accountability. The workshop will delve into signature learning experiences to help learners develop the mindset and skills necessary for self-direction. Attendees will leave with ideas and actionable steps to cultivate classrooms, schools, and school networks where students thrive as self-directed learners.
