Abir Mohamed is an undergraduate student majoring in Africana Studies and Information Systems, with a focus on exploring the intersectionality of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in education and higher education. Her research delves into how digital inequality, access to technology, and the application of AI can impact African diasporic communities, with a special emphasis on the educational landscape. Abir is particularly interested in how AI-driven tools and platforms are shaping the experiences of students of color in higher education, both in terms of opportunities and challenges. She examines how AI can perpetuate or challenge existing disparities, and how it can be used as a tool for empowerment, access, and inclusion. Through her work, Abir aims to contribute to the ongoing conversation about the ethical use of technology in education and its potential to foster greater equity and social justice within academic institutions.
