Alejandro Caballero

With more than 20 years of relevant work experience, Alejandro Caballero is a Principal Education Specialist at the IFC based in Washington D.C. Alejandro’s investment and operational experience in education spans across Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on Technology in Education, Online Education, Employability and Business-to-Business and Business-to-Government models. Alejandro has been instrumental in the development of IFC’s value-added services in Higher Education: Vitae (Employability) and D4TEP (Digital Transformation). Alejandro has also played a critical role in the development of IFC’s Ed Tech practice, having led and/ or been involved in the most relevant investments carried out by IFC to date, including Coursera and Andela, as well as in the preparation IFC’s Ed Tech strategy. Earlier in his career, Alejandro worked with the World Bank, focusing on public education. Alejandro holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Master’s degree in education from Stanford Graduate School of Education, where he was a La Caixa fellow (Fulbright equivalent).
