Amin Marei is a thought leader in education technology, focusing on the intersection of emerging technologies, human development, and learning. His research explores the affordances and limitations of scaling AI for learning globally, examining how AI can support educators, enhance learning design, and contribute to more responsive learning environments. He has been involved in developing learning tools for leading AI labs and serves as a Lead Researcher at EdTech Hub, contributing to global studies on digital learning and system transformation in low- and middle-income countries.

Marei is the CEO of EdLabs, an education consulting and investment firm that partners with governments, international organizations, and education providers to advance learning systems. He is a senior advisor to UNICEF on education and leads strategic projects with UNICEF and UNESCO focused on scaling digital learning and driving innovation in education systems.
Previously, Marei served as Senior Director of Impact and Efficacy at Sesame Workshop, leading global research on the reach and effectiveness of educational media. He also served as Associate Director of Professional Education at HGSE and founding the Middle East Professional Learning Initiative (MEPLI).

Marei advises several education technology startups on designing and scaling impactful learning solutions. He holds a Master's in Education from HGSE and a Ph.D. in Education, Culture, and Society from the University of Pennsylvania.
