President of Northern Virginia Community College, an institution serving over 70,000 students across six campuses just outside DC, Dr. Anne M. Kress focuses on fulfilling the college’s mission to provide equitable access to affordable and exceptional higher education, transforming the lives of NOVA students and advancing opportunity in the region. NOVA is the largest public higher education institution in Virginia and the largest provider of talent in the Greater DC region. Drawing from three decades of higher education experience, Kress has testified before Congress on community colleges and workforce development and served as a negotiator on federal higher education regulations. She currently serves on the boards of the American Council on Education, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, and the Capital Area Food Bank, among others. Since joining NOVA, Kress has been named consistently to Virginia Power 500 and the Washington Business Journal Power 100, and over her career in community colleges, she has played an active role in workforce and economic development projects in Florida, New York, and Virginia.
