My journey through CRED has been transformational and empowering since 2018. As a young man growing up in North Lawndale, I found myself in situations that were less than productive. Wanting a better life and a better future for myself I joined the Chicago Cred Gun Violence Prevention Program in 2018. As I became involved as a CRED participant, I was able to earn my high school diploma, enroll in a college program, receive counseling and one-on-one sessions with my life coach, and exposure to out-of-state travel, and life-changing workshops and seminars. However, the past would catch up with me and land me back in prison for 2years. CRED was still there. I found support from life coaches, the program director, and many supportive staff. Reengaging with Chicago Cred was a no-brainer. I returned to the program as an alumnus I soon graduated as an alumni ambassador. As an alumni Ambassador, an exceptional opportunity was presented that would exemplify the CRED mission, (Creating Real Economic Destiny). I was encouraged to enroll in Amplify Chicago. I enrolled in Amplify, completed my training, graduated in the winter of 2023, and amassed 9 certifications: solar installation, health and safety, landscaping, and OSHA to name a few. I continue to work with the current participants as the senior alumni in the program. I am CRED STRONG!
