Blakely R. Pomietto, EdD was appointed Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at the University of Maryland Global Campus in April 2020. She joined UMGC in 2015 and served in multiple leadership roles, most recently as Deputy Chief Academic Officer. Since coming to UMGC she has led many institutional initiatives to foster and effect organizational transformation aimed at improved efficiency and effectiveness. She has restructured core functions and business processes resulting in accelerated growth and diversification of the university’s program portfolio, improved consistency in the student experience across courses and faculty, increased student success and satisfaction, and elevated faculty engagement in the learning experience. Prior to joining UMGC, she served for nine years at the University of Maryland, College Park where she was a central part of the team that led the transformation from the College of Health and Human Performance to an accredited School of Public Health. Dr. Pomietto holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Capella University, a Master of Public Health, with a concentration in community health education, from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from George Mason University.
