Debbie Wasden is the Senior Vice President for Solutions at the Burning Glass Institute (BGI), a fully independent not-for-profit, advancing data-driven research and practice on the future of work and of workers. In this role, Debbie leads strategy, partnerships, and programmatic activities; leveraging BGI’s unique data-driven insights and tools to develop and deploy solutions that build mobility, opportunity, and equity through skills. Debbie has been an active champion in workforce and talent development for 15+ years; engaging with executives across industry, colleges, and state and federal agencies to define, translate, and align skills and talent needs with education solutions to reimagine the systems needed to engage and support our future workforce. Prior to joining BGI, Debbie was a director with the Markle Foundation, helping to lead the Rework America Alliance. She worked for Walmart.org as a grant officer and strategist primarily focused on employer practice change and skills interoperability, as well as served as an executive at the Business-Higher Education Forum, working with CEOs and university presidents to address the most pressing talent issues of our time in critical areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and digital. Debbie holds a B.A. and M.A. from George Washington University, where she studied business, industrial organizational psychology, and international science and technology policy.
