Deidre Alexander serves as the Assistant Legislative Director for Congressman Bennie Thompson. Alexander has also served as the Founding Director of the Mississippi Collective, which is a public education advocacy nonprofit. She also worked as a legislative consultant and researcher for the ACLU of MS. With a background in education, Alexander has served as a teacher, director of interventions, literacy specialist and founded Women Educators of Color. She was also recognized for her leadership potential and selected as a Senior Leadership Fellow for Higher Heights. She holds a Master's in Public School Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Jackson State University.
