Destin L. Mizelle is a fifth-year Counseling Psychology Ph.D. candidate from College Park, Georgia. His work is grounded in Liberation Psychology and fueled by a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. Destin’s scholarship centers the spiritual, physical, and mental well-being of Black Americans with a deep appreciation for their traditions, culture, and history. Additionally, across research, advocacy, and public scholarship, Destin strives to promote wellness, liberation, and cultural pride within Black communities. Destin delivered a TED Talk titled Black Names Matter, where he explored the cultural significance, identity impact, and lived experiences connected to Black naming practices. He has also appeared on the TV series Roadtrip Nation, sharing his story and offering insight on purpose-driven paths for future generations.
