Dr. Joel Domingo is Director of the Research Institute at City University of Seattle, where he leads the university’s overall scholarship and research agenda. Prior to this role, he was Associate Professor and Academic Director of the Doctoral Leadership Program in the School of Applied Leadership at the university where he helped increase access to doctoral education for adult and nontraditional learners.His research has centered on leadership development and civic capacity building for creating social transformation in the public sphere. He served as a key catalyst to help create the blueprint for the Cause Research Institute at National University, transforming the role of research and scholarship in the higher education space.Prior to CityU, he served as a fellow at the University of Washington’s Center on Human Development and Disability, bringing greater collaboration among medical professionals and the education sector. Dr. Domingo also served in the Washington State Governor’s Office, developing community leadership capacities across the state along with policy work and academic research on the impacts of academic and community partnerships.He serves on several nonprofit boards and committees, including the Washington State Charter Schools Association, the University of Washington Center on Human Development and Disability, and the Washington State Family and Community Engagement Trust and regularly volunteers in several organizations as well as the local children’s hospital. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in theology, and a doctorate in educational leadership.
