Dr. Owen Henkel

Owen Henkel works at the intersection of AI research, product development, and education. He is Co-Founder and Research Director at EdTechnical and co-host of the EdTechnical podcast. EdTechnical is closing the gap between the promises being made about AI and what actually works for education through research, investing and field-building. Owen has hands-on experience working with startups to build AI-powered education tools that reach hundreds of thousands of students. He holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and publishes on the use of multimodal AI and speech recognition for the assessment of foundational literacy and numeracy. He previously founded and directed Pearson's $50M edtech venture fund and began his career as a classroom teacher.
