With 26 years of experience igniting curiosity and discussion in K-12 English classrooms and guiding students toward their futures, Emily Norton now serves as College Going Advisor at Khan World School @ ASU Prep Digital. Emily is a founding Guide of the Khan World School team that started in the fall of 2022. This innovative learning program that is part of ASU Prep Digital allows students to move at an individualized pace in order to achieve mastery of their learning. She believes that personalized learning unlocks potential—enabling students in grades 6–12 to accelerate into college coursework on their own timeline. Along with advising students, she also facilitates KWS Socratic Seminars which are grounded in the discussion of real-world problems. With Seminar, she seeks to cultivate civic engagement and to empower students to lead with solutions. Through the Socratic Seminar, KWS found a unique avenue to approach CGF110: Resilient American Futures, and she began her collaboration with Dr. Benjamin Stanley. Emily holds a BA in English Teaching from Brigham Young University and an MA in English from Middlebury College. She currently lives in Mesa, AZ with her husband and two high school aged children.
