Dr. Janet N. Spriggs is the seventh President of Forsyth Technical Community College, bringing nearly 30 years of leadership in the North Carolina Community College System. A former low-income, first-generation student at Rockingham and Durham Tech, she personally understands the life-changing power of education and champions a culture of belonging that fosters inclusion and student success. Prior to joining Forsyth Tech in 2019, she served as Chief Operating Officer at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Vice President/Chief Financial Officer at Carteret Community College. A three-time Aspen Presidential Fellow, she earned her doctorate from Northeastern University, her master’s from Nova Southeastern University, and her bachelor’s from Roger Williams University. Dr. Spriggs serves on the American Association of Community Colleges’ Student Success Commission, the JFF Policy Leadership Trust, and multiple local boards, including Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. She is Vice President for Membership of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and an Advisory Board member for the Belk Center at NC State University. Guided by a student-centered leadership philosophy, Dr. Spriggs believes community colleges fuel social and economic mobility.
