Joanna Bruno, Ph.D., serves as the Chief Academic Officer at the Colorado Department of Education, where she has worked tirelessly for eighteen years to advance educational equity for all students. A champion for freedom through education, she has led transformative efforts to empower teachers as leaders and ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to a meaningful and inclusive education. In her current role, Joanna oversees pivotal programs including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education, Elementary Literacy and School Readiness, Learning Supports, Standards and Instructional Support, Gifted Education, Facility Schools, and Special Education. Her work reflects her commitment to meeting the immediate needs of students and educators while also anticipating and adapting to the rapidly evolving future of education.
