
JJohn Bailey serves as an Advisor to Fiore Ventures, a Fellow at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. His work focuses on AI policy, governance, and strategy, as well as innovation in healthcare, education, and science. Over the past two decades, John has worked across the public, private, and philanthropic sectors, serving as a White House domestic policy advisor, Deputy Policy Director at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Director of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. He has shaped and executed investment strategies for major philanthropies and venture funds. John advises technology companies and investors on their AI strategies and serves on advisory boards for Trustible.ai, Jobs for the Future, Kiddom, and the XPRIZE Brain Trust. He also serves on the boards of Zearn Math, U.S. Digital Response, American Policy Ventures, the Just Trust, and the Federation of American Scientists. Recognized by Washingtonian magazine as one of Washington’s Most Influential People in Policy, John has also served as an advisor to four presidential campaigns. He publishes Jagged Frontier, a newsletter focused on the jagged edges of AI progress, where rapid advances coincide with real limitations and risk.
