Alchemie

Julia Winter is the founder and CEO of Alchemie, an education technology company dedicated to creating interactive, game-based learning tools for STEM students. Before transitioning to entrepreneurship, Julia spent over 20 years as a high school chemistry teacher at Detroit Country Day School. Her deep classroom experience inspired her to move beyond traditional textbooks and develop tools that help students visualize complex molecular concepts. 

Julia founded Alchemie with the goal of making learning intuitive and accessible. The company’s tools, such as the award winning game Mechanisms, allow student to explore and build interactive knowledge of science concepts. Julia has received the James Bryant Conant Award in 2016, the highest honor given to a high school teacher by the American Chemical Society, recognizing her passion and inventiveness in the classroom. Julia was also named one of Crain’s Detroit “Notable Women in STEM” in 2019. Julia holds a MS in Chemistry from Wayne State University and bachelors degrees in Chemistry and Education from the University of Minnesota.
