
Kyra Darnton is the president of Retro Report, an independent nonprofit organization producing short documentaries and educational resources that bring context, evidence, and perspective to stories shaping civic life. Retro Report's library of free documentaries and lesson plans spark critical thinking and civil discourse about history and civics, reaching about 3 million middle and high school students a month. Before joining Retro Report, Darnton spent 15 years at 60 Minutes, where her investigative reporting won multiple awards, including a Peabody Award. At Retro Report, she has executive produced several primetime docu series for PBS, including Citizen Nation, multiple Frontline films, and short docs with partners ranging from The New York Times to Time magazine to NBC News. Retro Report has won numerous awards and nominations including 12 Emmys, 13 Edward R. Murrow awards, Webby awards, and the 2025 IDA documentary award for best series.
