Lucy Avetisyan is the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at UCLA, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the university’s IT strategy. As the leader of IT at the nation’s top public university, Avetisyan is driving the Digital Campus Roadmap, a comprehensive initiative aimed at transforming and enhancing the digital experience across UCLA. This roadmap focuses on both strengthening the foundational IT infrastructure—such as campus-wide network upgrades, cybersecurity, and application modernization—and advancing the university’s mission by fostering innovative teaching, learning, and research environments. Avetisyan is recognized for her ability to build high-performance teams and deliver results that align with UCLA’s goals in education, research, and public service. Her leadership is characterized by a deep commitment to customer experience, operational excellence, and the professional growth and satisfaction of her team. Before joining UCLA, Avetisyan had a distinguished career at the University of Southern California (USC), where she served as Deputy Chief Information Officer. At USC, she was instrumental in leading significant projects, including the Digital Transformation initiative and the implementation of the Workday Human Capital Management and Payroll systems, among others. Her strategic vision and leadership continue to propel UCLA forward, ensuring the university remains at the forefront of technological innovation and service delivery.
