CEO

Alwin Education Limited

Lucy Stonehill is a serial education entrepreneur and advisor with expertise in international K12 and global higher education systems, and a proven track record of scaling mission driven education businesses. She is the Co-Founder and CEO of Alwin Education, an emerging markets higher education group building digital, labour market aligned degree programmes and professional certifications in partnership with higher education institutions across South Africa and other high growth emerging markets. Alwin acquires locally accredited higher education institutions and transforms them through digitisation, operational optimisation, and a shared AI enabled operating system. The group focuses on expanding access to affordable, high quality tertiary education and skills-based programmes in markets where demand for quality higher education materially outstrips supply. Previously, Lucy founded BridgeU, a pioneering university and careers guidance platform connecting international K12 schools and students in over 145 countries with higher education institutions worldwide. Over a decade, she scaled the business globally, raised capital from leading venture and strategic investors, and led BridgeU through its acquisition to Kaplan in 2020. Post acquisition, Lucy served on Kaplan’s global leadership team and led BridgeU’s continued expansion through May of 2024. Lucy is a Venture Partner at Emerge Education, a European seed fund investing in founders addressing the global skills gap. She serves on the advisory board of IU International University of Applied Sciences, Germany’s largest university group, and sits on the board of directors of Amerigo Education.
