Dr. Madhu Chitkara is a distinguished educationist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist with nearly five decades of experience in academia. She is the Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University (Punjab & Himachal Pradesh) and Chairperson of Chitkara International School (Chandigarh & Panchkula). She also serves as the General Secretary of Chitkara Educational Trust and Co-Chair of the National Council on Education, ASSOCHAM, New Delhi.
A visionary leader, she has played a pivotal role in shaping India’s higher education landscape. She established Chitkara Educational Trust in 1998, which laid the foundation for one of the country’s premier universities. Under her leadership, Chitkara University has grown to host over 25,000 students and 3,000 faculty members, offering 90+ industry-linked programs.
A recipient of numerous accolades, including the Rashtriya Shiksha Ratan Award (2003) and the Women Entrepreneur Award (South East Asia), Dr. Chitkara is known for fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence. Her case study on entrepreneurship has been featured by George Washington University, and she has been recognized for her contributions to international education.
She pioneered Global Week, an initiative to enhance international collaborations, and has been instrumental in establishing incubation centers that support over 100 startups.
