Mark Grovic has invested in high-growth companies since 1992, with expertise in education and workforce sectors. He founded New Markets Venture Partners in 2003, making it a leader in high-impact education and workforce investments. Previously, Mark was a Portfolio Manager at SEAF, Director of the Baltic Small Equity Fund, Co-Founder of the Templeton Emerging Europe Fund, and a Principal at Templeton Direct Advisors. He also managed private equities at the Calvert Group, a leader in Socially Responsible Investment. Mark served as Senior Advisor to UMGC and UMGC Ventures, guiding corporate development and B2B activities. He created a two-course Professional Certificate in Entrepreneurship for EdX and taught for 16 years at the University of Maryland’s R.H. Smith School of Business. He was also a Professor at Howard University, earning multiple teaching awards. He is a founding Board Member of Impact Capital Managers, serves on the World Bank’s Youth Employment Private Sector Advisory Council, and has held leadership roles with NFTE, Emerson Prep, and the Lumina Foundation. Mark holds a B.A. with Honors from UC Berkeley and a J.D. from Georgetown, with further studies at Harvard, GWU, and Babson College. He lives in Silver Spring, MD, with his wife and two children and is a self-described mediocre musician and triathlete.
